Application 05

280 g/m² — Apparel

Costume & Performance

Made for stage light.

Costume for opera, theatre, film, television and dance. A matte velvet that absorbs the spotlight instead of throwing it back, in colours that read from the back row.

The fit

Matte under the lights.

Cotton does not shine: under stage lighting cotton velvet looks deep and matte, without the reflections of synthetic fibres that give the fabric away on camera.

Costume departments work to impossible deadlines and last-minute remakes: that is why we keep all 25 references in stock and send samples within 48 hours.

Typical uses

  • Period costume
  • Opera and theatre
  • Film and series
  • Dance and ballet
  • Capes, doublets and mantles
  • Curtains and set design

Why Velvetes

  1. 01

    No reflections

The matte finish of cotton performs well under spotlights and on camera.

  2. 02

    Fast remakes

Permanent stock to remake a piece mid-season.

  3. 03

    A dramatic card

Reds, jewel greens and nocturnal tones that read from afar.
